Deadline writes that there has been no official offer to the Black Mirror star so far, but the rumors are quite persistent. “We understand that such a high-profile series will cause a lot of rumors and speculation. As we progress through pre-production, we will only confirm details as deals are finalized,” an HBO spokesperson said recently.
HBO said it plans to have a different cast for the series, following its experience with the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
In the original Harry Potter films, the role of the Head of Slytherin was played by the late Alan Rickman. Severus Snape, as portrayed by him, was hated, loved, wanted to kill, sympathized with, and empathized with throughout all eight episodes, from film to film.
A leading candidate for the role of Dumbledore in the Harry Potter series has recently been identified. The main contender for the role of the magician was Mark Rylance.
