An incredible story of a happy reunion happened in China. A couple who lost their son right after birth met him 37 years later.
At birth, the grandmother gave the baby to strangers without the knowledge of the child’s parents. The South China Morning Post writes that the family believed they were unable to raise another child due to poverty. At the time, the couple already had two children. This happened to the Li family in Weinan, Shaanxi Province, in 1986. The child was given to a man surnamed Zhao.
The Lis then began searching for their son, knowing that his adoptive parents were from Shandong Province. In February of this year, Li’s blood samples were found to match those of a man surnamed Pan from Shandong Province. Police asked Pan and his family to give blood again to confirm the relationship. In early August, the son was finally reunited with his family and arrived in his small hometown.
The meeting, which took place almost 40 years later, turned out to be very touching. The elderly parents did not hide their tears and joy. “Son, my father and mother sympathize with you. How did you live all these years?” – Father and mother turned to Pan and hugged him.
