Keanu Reeves has shared his memories of writing his first novel, The Book of Another Place, which was inspired by thoughts of death.
The John Wick star told The New York Times that he looked deep into his own psyche while working on the story of the 80,000-year-old warrior known as Unute.
“I don’t understand why we all know we’re going to die but then we kill each other over things that maybe aren’t that important,” Reeves said. “I’m curious about the world, how we got here, who we are.”
The Book of Another Place is an action and speculative fiction novel written by Keanu Reeves and British author China Miéville. It is set in the alternate universe of BRZRKR.
Writing isn’t Reeves’ only creative outlet outside of filmmaking. He plays bass in the band Dogstar, dabbles in video games, owns a motorcycle company and has written companion articles to two photography books for his partner Alexandra Grant.
