According to WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp team is working on a new feature that will allow users to edit messages after they’ve been delivered. This is somewhat similar to the feature Twitter is developing, but the WhatsApp interface will be simpler in this regard. While Twitter is expected to provide the sender with the ability to view the revision history and previous versions of each message, this messaging service will not.
It is not yet known whether WhatsApp will notify the recipient that the sender has edited the message. According to preliminary information, the user will be able to correct the message, but the edit history will not be used to check for previous versions. However, WABetaInfo acknowledges that the developer’s plans may change. It is also not reported on the length of time that editing is possible.
