Paramount Pictures has released a high-octane new trailer for Edgar Wrightis the next sci-fi thriller The running manand it’s a wild ride from start to finish.
The film marks Wright’s return to cinema Last night in Sohoand it looks like it’s going to be an intense and stylish action movie experience.
Based on the 1982 novel by Stephen King, The running man is set in a dystopian future where the government manipulates the media and the poor are forced to take desperate measures to survive.
Glen Powell plays Ben Richards, a man who volunteers to compete in a brutal reality show where contestants are hunted by professional killers. If he survives 30 days, he will win enough money to save his sick child and lift his family out of poverty.
The trailer showcases Wright’s trademark kinetic energy, with explosive action sequences, captivating visuals and sharp social commentary. The final moments show Richards navigating a booby-trapped house rigged with crazy, over-the-top death traps, and it looks like pure cinematic chaos. It’s Wright’s signature mix of tension, satire and elegant chaos.
The film also boasts an inclusive cast Katy O’Brian, Daniel Ezra, Karl Glusmann, Josh Brolin, Lee Pace, Jayme Lawson, Michele Cera, Emilia Jones, William H. Macy, David Zayas, Sean HayesAND Colman Domingo.
The film was directed by Edgar Wrightwith a script he wrote with Michael Bacall (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, 21 Jump Street).
This marks the second adaptation of King’s story, the first being the 1987 cult classic starring Arnold Schwarzeneggerbut this new interpretation seems much truer to the darker, more politically charged tone of the novel.
Paramount will release The running man in theaters worldwide on November 14, 2025.
