Keir Johnston, who went viral on the internet with his mother-in-law’s blue and black dress, was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison. He was found guilty of assaulting his wife, BBC reported. The man was also banned from contacting or approaching his wife for 10 years.
The court in Glasgow heard Keir attacked his wife Grace during a domestic dispute in March 2022. He threw his partner to the ground and started strangling him with both hands. The choking lasted about 20 seconds and only ended when a bystander to the confrontation ran towards Cyrus and stopped him.
Additionally, Johnston then brandished his knife, threatened that “someone was going to die” and attempted to harm himself. The judge said the girl’s life was at risk and the violence she experienced would affect the rest of her life.
In May 2024 Keir Johnston pleaded guilty to domestic violence. Investigators think that in addition to the violence in the couple in the last 10 years, the woman was banned from communicating with her friends and spending money.
