The film “Gorynych” crossed the billion ruble mark at the Russian box office just a week after its premiere. According to UAIS, this success was a new record for the tale.
The plot of the film tells how the sailor Alexey found himself in a magical world, where he found a little dragon and decided to name him Gorynych. The adventures of the hero and his extraordinary friend captivated the audience, and this was reflected in the impressive box office receipts.
This is already the ninth Russian film that managed to break the billion dollar mark in 2025. Previously, “The Wizard of the Emerald City. Yellow Brick Road”, “Finist. The First Hero”, “Yolki 11”, “Brownie Kuzya”, “Prophet. The Story of Alexander Pushkin”, “Father 2: Grandfather”, “Kraken” and “August” previously joined this group.
For the creators of Gorynych, this success became an important confirmation of the audience’s interest in modern Russian fairy-tale films. Critics note that the project successfully combines elements of fantasy and humor, and the main characters evoke sympathy among children and adults.
By the way, two fairy tales are currently fighting for leadership at the box office: “Gorynych” starring Alexander Petrov and the high-profile project “Alice in Wonderland” starring Anya Peresild.
