The high-profile legal dispute between Justin Baldoni and celebrity couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds has come to an end. A judge has officially dismissed the director’s $400 million countersuit after he was accused of sexual harassment by his It Ends With Us co-star.
As Page Six reports, U.S. District Court Judge Lewis Lyman ordered the case dismissed because co-plaintiffs at Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios refused to amend the complaint. Blake Lively was the only party to respond to the court’s warning. His request to pursue his claim for legal costs was granted.
Baldoni’s lawyers said the director decided not to respond to the court’s latest appeal in order to preserve his right to appeal. A $250 million libel lawsuit filed against the New York Times in January was also dismissed in early June 2025. At the time, the judge stated that the charges against Lively related only to statements she made as part of a formal complaint and that those statements were protected by law.
Let us recall that the dispute between the actors flared up at the end of 2024, when Blake Lively accused her partner and the director of the film “It Ends with Us” of sexual harassment and retaliation. She filed a lawsuit against him a few weeks later, and soon The New York Times wrote about the actor’s allegations. In response, Baldoni accused Lively, Reynolds and her PR team of slander and extortion.
