Keanu Reeves is returning to the world of science fiction, and this time he is collaborating with Dead Pool director Tim Miller for a new original film titled Thrill.
Warner Bros. is reportedly in the final stages of closing the deal to acquire the project, which already looks to be something wild and ambitious.
Reeves has a long history of swashbuckling in science fiction, from The Matrix series a Johnny Mnemonic, Chain reaction, The day the Earth stoppedAND Replies. But Thrill it looks like it will lead him into a whole new kind of chaos.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thrill will be directed by Miller from a screenplay by Ian Shorrwith Kingsman Creator Matthew Vaughn produce alongside Aaron Ryder.
While official plot details are being kept under wraps, the film reportedly follows “an evil smuggler who finds himself in the middle of a deadly double cross while working in the Caribbean Sea, which leads to him being surrounded by bodies, hostile mercenaries, and thirsty sharks. He subsequently finds himself in a deadly time loop and struggles to break the loop.”
That setup looks like Edge of tomorrow meet The shallow waterswith a touch of John Wickgrit in style. A smuggler trapped in a time loop full of sharks and mercenaries? Yes, I’m in.
Reeves has kept his schedule busy lately. He recently appeared in Lionsgate John Wick spin off Dancer AND Aziz Ansariit’s comedy Good luck. He will be the protagonist next Jonah HillIt’s black comedy Resultnext to Cameron Diaz AND Matt Bomerand in satirical comedy The entertainment system is inactive with Kirsten Dunst.
I can’t wait to see how Thrill turns out?
