Fashion criticism is dead, long live fashion? Since the advent of social media in the early 2010s and the rise of influencer marketing, freedom of information regarding the fashion industry seems to be decreasing day by day.
Journalists appear less and less read, within media that are increasingly dependent on advertising brands, who therefore should not take offense at the risk of losing them as a source of advertising revenue.
As for influencers, we tend to earn a lot more by being friends with brands than by showing critical thinking. While the government also tends to give tax breaks to luxury giants (the biggest fortunes in France and even in the world), one might ask whether fashion criticism is still possible or is clearly disappearing.
To fight, JT Mode welcomes on Tuesday 16 April 2024, from 7pm to 9pm, Amélie Zimmermann aka @FashionQuiche on social networks and Mélody Thomas.

Who is Amélie Zimmermann (@FashionQuiche), guest of Fashion News last April 16th
Driven by the desire to understand why our appearance obsesses us, Amélie Zimmermann launched herself on YouTube in 2019 under the name Fashion Quiche. She analyzes fashion through the prism of philosophy, attempting to discover the links between being and appearing, masks and lies, beauty and power. Amélie extends her research to the field of cinema and its costumes in a series produced for Arte, entitled “ Stripping the cinema “. In addition to her Internet presence, she is also a freelance editor and editorial designer, always looking for more ways to tell the story of fashion.
