Can we really criticize fashion? Fashion news with Melody Thomas and @FashionQuiche

Can we really criticize fashion? Fashion news with Melody Thomas and @FashionQuiche

Can journalists and influencers really say negative things about the fashion industry or is this biting the hand that feeds them? To find out, journalist Anthony Vincent reports on Madmoizelle’s Twitch chain in JT Mode in 16 April, the creator of content, philosophy and style Amélie Zimmermann alias Fashion Quiche, also the author of the book La Mode is political Mélody Thomas.

Fashion criticism is dead, long live fashion? Since the advent of social media in the early 2010s and the rise of influencer marketing, freedom of information regarding the fashion industry seems to be decreasing day by day.

Journalists appear less and less read, within media that are increasingly dependent on advertising brands, who therefore should not take offense at the risk of losing them as a source of advertising revenue.

As for influencers, we tend to earn a lot more by being friends with brands than by showing critical thinking. While the government also tends to give tax breaks to luxury giants (the biggest fortunes in France and even in the world), one might ask whether fashion criticism is still possible or is clearly disappearing.

To fight, JT Mode welcomes on Tuesday 16 April 2024, from 7pm to 9pm, Amélie Zimmermann aka @FashionQuiche on social networks and Mélody Thomas.
