In 2022, only 7% of femicide victims were supported by an association

The France Victimes federation publishes on Friday 8 March a new survey on support for victims and relatives of victims of femicide. It calls on the Ministry of Justice to further mobilize associations so that they can work closely with prosecutors at the slightest suspicion of violence.

7%. This is the small percentage of victims of feminicides in 2022 followed by an association, the French Federation of Victims regrets on Friday 8 March in its new survey, released by Franceinfo.

The entourage of the victims is not sufficiently supported

Furthermore, our colleagues point out, only 30% of the victims’ relatives were supported by an association. However, in more than half of the cases (57%) the children were present in the house at the time of the crime and one child in three was even a witness.

“Children are not sufficiently supported and protected in their rights”agrees Jérôme Moreau, spokesperson for the France Victimes association on Franceinfo.

The association has drawn up a list of recommendations to remedy this situation. Among these, the issuing of a circular by the Ministry of Justice requiring prosecutors to automatically refer victims’ associations at the slightest suspicion. “As soon as the first violence occurs we can ask the Prosecutor’s Office to release a serious danger telephone. Today, there are approximately 6,000 seriously dangerous phones in the country that demonstrate their effectiveness. So it’s something that works. »
