The Nightstream Virtual Festival is being revived as a transactional VOD hub; “Summoners” was chosen as the first exclusive title

Launched in 2020 as a virtual film festival designed to give filmmakers and viewers options during the pandemic, Nightstream returns as a transactional VOD platform with a focus on genre films.

The relaunch is supported by the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival in association with the Boston Underground Film Festival and the Overlook Film Festival.

Nightstream’s first exclusive is callerby Terence Krey and Christine Nyland, the duo behind 2020s A disturbed grave. caller, whose cast also includes longtime indie film figure Larry Fessenden, had its world premiere at last year’s Brooklyn Horror Fest. According to the official logline, the film focuses on “a former witch who is thrown back into a world of witchcraft far more dangerous than ever after her childhood friend asks her for help in performing a dark spell.”

Starting today on Halloween, the platform will offer more than 30 titles from indie distributors such as Oscilloscope, Dark Star, Dark Sky, Dekanalog, Utopia and Yellow Veil Pictures. Films include those of Jane Schoenbrun We’re all going to the World’s FairGaspar Noah Lux Aeterna and Joel Potrykus’s buzzard.
Prices vary by title and customers have the option to rent or buy most titles. The standard price is $4.99 to rent and $12.99 to buy.
