On the night of October 10, lightning struck over the mountains in the Adler region, and its current intensity was almost ten times that of normal. Evgeny Tishkovets, the leading expert of the Phobos weather center, talked about this on his Telegram channel.

According to the meteorologist, a strong discharge of 376 kiloamperes was recorded around 01:35 Moscow time. But it turned out that this was a natural anomaly recorded with modern devices.
Tishkovets noted that along with this incident, a number of other lightning strikes with current density above 100-200 kiloamperes were also observed. For comparison, the power of lightning is usually about 20-30 kiloamperes, which makes the observed phenomenon extremely rare and impressive even for experienced weather forecasters.
The cause of the anomalies in the atmosphere was hurricane Barbara, which is currently ravaging the Caucasus. It brought heavy rain and thunderstorms, causing up to 80% of the monthly precipitation on the Black Sea coast to drop within a few days.
Forecasters warn that unstable weather will continue for several more days. Residents are advised to exercise caution, stay out of water and avoid open areas during the storm; Strong lightning strikes can be dangerous.
