According to Daily Mail, Lawrence Watkins, who lives in New Zealand, is recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the owner of the world’s longest name, consisting of 2,253 words.

To achieve this goal, the man had to go through legal proceedings. In 1990 he changed his name and added more than two thousand middle names, but the District Court Registrar rejected Watkins’ application. Lawrence then appealed to the Supreme Court of New Zealand, which ruled in his favour. It is noteworthy that this case influenced changes in the country’s legislation.
“I was always fascinated by the extraordinary records that some people broke, and I really wanted to be a part of that scene,” Lawrence told Guinness World Records.
As is known, the idea came to his mind while working in the city library. Watkins then began choosing names from various books. The name AZ2000 occupied a special place in his collection, and it became a symbolic name of the achieved record.
However, the unusual name created difficulties in daily life for Lawrence. Therefore, at a wedding ceremony it took the host more than twenty minutes to pronounce it fully.
