The BBC has edited a YouTube video of a Sabrina Carpenter performance after the singer clearly referenced a porn trope.
Carpenter, a former Disney Channel star, appeared on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge last week and performed her song nonsensewith a recording of the performance uploaded to YouTube.
The original video featured Carpenter’s riff at the end of her song, where she said: “How fast can you undress, pop quiz. I’m American, I’m not British, so BBC stands for something else. This live living room is lit because I’m in it, isn’t it?
The BBC has since removed this version of the video and replaced it with an edited clip that does not include the Adlibbed outro. BBC stands for British Broadcasting Corporation in the UK, but is also a colloquial anatomical reference with racist connotations in pornography.
The BBC said: “An unedited version of the video was posted in error for a short time and the correct version is now available to viewers.”
However, the change did not go unnoticed. Personalities such as Charli XCX were among those who tweeted about Carpenter’s prank.
