Season 4 of ‘The Boys’ is one of the most anticipated series for this 2023, and with it, many revelations on what will happen in the Amazon Prime Video program, after the events of the third chapter. And one of the biggest unknowns of the new episodes is whether the true face of Black Noir will finally be revealed, and will confirm if it will be very different from the one seen in the comic.
During the third season of ‘The boys’, it is revealed that Black Noir was once Earving, a superhero from PayBack, a team created by Vought, which was the predecessor of The Seven. Night Owl was one of the most prominent members during his service in the Cold War, but everything came crashing down when Soldier Boy enters the scene, brutally beats him, and Stan Edgar forbids him to reveal his face, since a black hero could represent economic losses.
It is then that Soldier Boy brutally beats Night Owl, disfiguring his face to such an extent that it is impossible for him to take off his mask again. So it’s no surprise to him that readers of the original comic found it strange. the differences of the Black Noir in ‘The boys’ and in comicsWell, not only its origin but some of its story has been changed in the Amazon Prime Video adaptation.
In “The Boys” comics, Black Noir is revealed to be a clone of Homelander., created solely to assassinate the leader of the Seven should he go insane or no longer represent Vought’s goals. While, in the Amazon series, the true face of the Night Owl has been kept secret, and we could only see a part of it in the second season fight in which Butcher appears.

Black Noir Will Return For ‘The Boys’ Season 4
Already from the third season, Black Noir dies at the hands of Homelander, which never happens in the comic. In the comics, it is implied that Patriot is the more powerful of the two, and Butcher theorizes that Patriot was responsible for killing and abusing her wife, impregnating her with her first superhuman child. All of this is confirmed when Homelander discovers some of his photographs of the horrific event.
However, Homelander does not remember doing anything he saw in the photos, but Butcher is now convinced to bring the leader of the Seven to justice. It is then that Homelander is convinced to free himself from all the control he has over him, and an attack on the White House begins, in which Black Noir appears, who reveals that he is responsible for the murders, while showing him his true face . . , that of Patriot.
It’s clear that the Black Noirs in the series and the comic are quite different, and there’s been no indication that the adaptation will also be about a Homelander clone. Although it is confirmed that he will return, and perhaps he is a creation of Vought, perhaps with the genetic material of Patriot, but that the true face of him is completely different. ‘The Boys’ Season 4 has no release date.
