A man-to-be is distraught after his ‘bucket list’ trip – booked after a devastating cancer diagnosis – turned into a ‘holiday from hell’.
Adam Debeers booked a £3,200 two-week holiday in Thailand with his fiancee Grace Cwalinska ahead of his 50th birthday, with the couple splitting on March 8.
However, according to Debeers, the holiday of a lifetime quickly turned into a nightmare when they realized their Khao Lak resort was essentially a construction site.
Poor flight conditions, a “room full of mould” and no hot water were just some of the things that ruined their “last holiday together”, according to Adam.

After a harrowing flight to Thailand, they found their “luxury” residence was still essentially a construction site (pictured).
Despite being rented in a beautiful bungalow at the Bandari resort, distribution center worker Adam, from Warrington, Cheshire, claims things went awry at the airport because the flight was four hours late.
This was followed by pasta, which Adam described as “inedible”, and a broken air conditioner, which drenched the couple in ice water throughout the 14-hour flight.
He claims that the cabin crew forgot to load blankets onto the plane, causing passengers to freeze, and that other passengers were given alcohol to make up for the lack of food. This, he says, has led to several drunken incidents on board.
Adam and his fiancée claim they were served a chocolate brownie that night and woke up to a breakfast of fairy cakes as they neared their destination.
Because their flight was delayed, the couple missed dinner on their first night in Khao Lak, but they decided to check out the beautiful bungalow they had booked with TUI.
But when the couple arrived at their bungalow, they were greeted by a “room full of mold” and were furious to soon find they had no hot water and no Wi-Fi – despite paying extra for the internet connection.
The couple immediately contacted a TUI representative. However, they claim the representative arrived just a day before they left Thailand, with a bowl of rotten fruit and an offer of a free massage as compensation.
To make matters worse for the couple, photos show the luxury beach where Adam and Grace were covered in debris, as well as work being carried out by a backhoe.
The resort turns out to be unfinished, leaving the couple with a vacation from hell rather than the dream vacation Adam was hoping for after his diagnosis.
Adam claims all the rooms at the hotel were great and wishes he had booked directly with the resort.
Adam said on Friday: “I was just told I had cancer so we booked the holiday as it was my 50th birthday on December 20.

Arriving at their bungalow, the couple were greeted by a “mould-filled room” and were furious to soon discover they had no hot water and no Wi-Fi – even though they had to pay extra for the internet connection
“This may be the last holiday we take together, it sounds a bit sad but going to Thailand was on my wish list and I was sold on a luxury dream holiday.
“We have just returned from 2 weeks in Khao Lak, Thailand and thanks to TUI for over £3,000 it was one hell of a holiday.
“It was my 50th birthday and I was diagnosed with cancer, so I wanted the trip of a lifetime for me and my partner while I still could.
“I went to the shop in Warrington and bought this holiday which looked perfect, we were so excited we even paid extra for a bungalow with wifi.
“On the way out the flight was delayed four hours without any explanation, when we got on the dirty plane we were given cold pasta and sauce [which was] not edible.
“The AC broke and dripped ice water on us for 14 hours and they forgot to load blankets so we froze.
‘His [cabin crew] served alcohol and no food to passengers to satisfy them, resulting in three separate cases of intoxicated individuals.
“It must have been a Dreamliner we were flying, more like a nightmare.

The couple immediately contacted a TUI representative when they found the bungalow was fine (correct). However, they claim the representative arrived just a day before they were due to leave Thailand with a bowl of rotten fruit (right) and an offer of a free massage
“We paid for a bungalow but got a dirty room with mold and no garden terrace, we were told to close the door to the terrace as it could not be used as it was overgrown.
“We had no hot water, no Wi-Fi and no air conditioning – the idyllic beach within 200 meters was a rubbish dump and the bed linen was dirty and moldy.
“We contacted TUI, but they just came with a bowl of rotten fruit and offered a massage.
“TUI took my money and may have ruined my last holiday.
“The bungalow smelled musty and damp while the hotel looked great and the staff were fantastic.
“Had I booked direct I would have got what I paid TUI for.”
MailOnline has asked TUI for comment.
