It has been several months since the release of ‘The Sandman’ and people still remember Sueño’s adventure to recover his tools. And as a Christmas present, Netflix has shared a deleted scene from the Tom Sturridge-starring fantasy series, which explains the compassion of one of the most compassionate and feared Eternals, Death.

The scene deleted from ‘The Sandman’ belongs to the chapter ‘The Sound of Their Wings’, and is performed only by Death and Dream, played by Kirby Howell Baptiste and Tom Sturridge. The clip, just a minute and a half, takes place before Death visits the old man who plays his violin and comes to claim his soul, but here we get more of his gentle nature.

In the comic it was a little clearer, but with this one scene of ‘The Sandman’ one understands why Death is so compassionate. Sueño asks why people are afraid of death “if it is natural to die how to be born?” And Death responds with an emotional story about a girl who, on her deathbed, asked him how she would see him if she were to die.

Kirby Howell Baptiste recently spoke about this scene from ‘The Sandman’ and said: “That part taken from the comic is the key to understanding who Death is.. The reason she’s so compassionate is because she understands it, because she’s been through it. So she understands that in the end no one is ready because she herself, being Death and knowing what was going to happen, she didn’t feel ready to leave yet,” said the actress.

When does ‘The Sandman’ Season 2 air?

Recently, a report from Variety said that Netflix is considering releasing new episodes of ‘The Sandman’ on a weekly basis. After, one of the main reasons that the announcement of the second season was its first model, the announcement of the continuation of the story took so long. There is currently no talk of a possible release date, but recordings could begin the following year, to be released in 2024.

Some fans have pointed out that, in the announcement, Netflix did not specify that it was a traditional second season, thus giving more strength to the theory that the new ‘The Sandman’ would arrive in the form of weekly chapters. Many agree with this format, because in addition to adding suspense to the plot, they ensure that it could give space to special chapters like the one released after the premiere of the first season.

Everything seems to indicate that it will be in 2024 when the second season of ‘The Sandman’ arrives, we just have to wait for a confirmation if it will be in a weekly or traditional format. Neil Gaiman’s work still has a long way to go before completing Dream’s story completely, so this will be the start of a series of at least 5 seasons if all goes well.
