‘Beauty and the Beast’: This Was Spectacular Live Version of Songs from 30th Anniversary Special

Disney wanted to pay homage to one of its most beloved animated classics, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, with a special airing Thursday, December 16 on ABC in the United States. Throughout the program they reviewed the creation of the film directed by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise, but the highlight was the live performances of the musical numbers.

For the occasion, Disney has assembled a cast led by HER and Josh Groban as Beauty and the Beastwho were accompanied by Martin Short as Lumiére, David Alan Grier as Dindón, Shania Twain as Mrs. Potts, Joshua Henry as Gastón, Rizan Manji as LeFou and Rita Moreno as narrator.

ABC has posted many of the performances on its social networks and two of them are getting all the attention. Perhaps the one that aroused the most curiosity was ‘What a party’. The special team has transformed this dance of kitchen objects into an ingenious game of hatches and hands camouflaged with the velvet of the table in front of which Bella eagerly awaits her dinner. The “Only Murders in the Building” actor hosted while Shania Twain set the dishes for tea.

The program paid tribute to Angela Lansbury (died October) during the dance number of the two leads projecting animated images of Mrs. Potts as Alan Menken accompanied Shania Twain on the piano. This time the mythical scene of the film was the protagonist.

To wrap up the festivities, HER and Josh Groban again performed a duet to the theme song of the soundtrack, but the singer gave the surprise towards the end of the song. scoring a rock version with an electric guitar, while wearing golden glasses to match the mythical dress. A shower of rose petals was the climax of the film’s 30th anniversary special (which was last year). The program arrived a day later on Disney + in the United States, but we do not know if it will arrive in our country, and if so, when.
