Say hello to a new generation of Duttons. the new series 1923 The Dutton family, led by Jacob and Cara Dutton, will follow. Darrenmann stars like Jack Dutton, and michelle randolf plays his future wife, Elizabeth Stafford. Hollywood life spoke EXCLUSIVELY to Darren and Michelle about Jack and Elizabeth’s “sweet” and “innocent” relationship.
“I think Elizabeth is intrigued by Jack. He definitely has a wild side and Jack brings that out. Plus, the Dutton family is very loyal to her and her family, and he makes her feel safe,” Michelle revealed on why Elizabeth is attracted to Jack.
When Elizabeth marries Jack, she will become part of the Dutton family. Although Elizabeth was raised in Montana, she was never a farmer’s wife. “Her father of hers is a farmer, so I think he knows what the lifestyle is like. But what he discovers is that marrying a farmer is very different from being a farmer’s daughter,” admitted Michelle. “She chooses to stay when Cara says ‘you have to choose this lifestyle,’ and she chooses Jack.”
Jack has never known anything but the Dutton lifestyle and will do anything to help his great-uncle Jacob support him. “He loves her family very much and is definitely willing to do whatever it takes to protect and preserve them,” said Darren. “I think he really admires his uncle, well, his great uncle Jacob and his father. Sure, we have a fun relationship. A bit more like a brother because the uncle raised us.
On the other hand, Elizabeth will be looking to Cara for guidance as she navigates this next chapter in her life. “Elizabeth really admires Cara because she knows what it takes for her to be a farmer’s wife, and she really admires Cara and her strength in her. I think he wants to be a lot like her someday,” Michelle said.

In the midst of the action, Jack and Elizabeth’s relationship will be the central emotional focus of the series. Darren admitted that “the really cool thing about doing this in the ’20s is that we don’t have all these outside influences, right? So they really can be that pure at 25. Well, I’m 25… Whereas nowadays, when kids are everything, there’s the Internet, TV, all that stuff, so it’s nice to play a period piece like that.
The series will debut December 18 on Paramount+. Episodes will be released weekly after the premiere.
