Daniel Craig explains why he wanted his James Bond character killed off

It was quite a shocking moment in the 007 franchise when James Bond was killed off There is no time to die. One of the things that makes these movies so entertaining is all of the different actors who have come into the role of Bond over the course of 25 movies. When one actor has finished playing the character, another actor has simply stepped into the role, and the creative team takes a fresh approach to the material.

Everything has changed with Daniel CraigLink. There is no time to die it was the actor’s last time playing Bond, and it ended with him sacrificing his own life to save others, which ensured this version of the character was fully completed. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Craig said he was completely OK with his character’s death and explained why:

“Two things, one for me and one for the franchise. I was like, ‘Well, you need to reset again.’ So let’s kill my character and go find another Bond and go find another story [age] 23, start at 25, start at 30.”

“The other was so I could move forward. I don’t want to go back. I guess I’d be so lucky if they asked me to go back, but the thing is, I need to move on. The sacrifice that what he makes in the film was out of love, and there is no greater sacrifice. So it seemed like a good thing to wrap up.”

Those are actually very good reasons, and you know what, I was okay with Bond sacrificing his life in the movie. Now the creative team can recast the character and start over. I have no idea what is planned for the future of the franchise, but one thing I would like to see is a version of Bond set during WWII. It could be a lot of fun!
