Dirty dances actress Jennifer Gray she signed on to play Christian cult leader and diet guru Gwen Shamblin in an upcoming Lifetime movie about her life and crimes. We talked about it a couple of months ago Sarah Paulson he will also play Shamblin in a series in the works at HBO Max.
“Shamblin, who rose to fame with her Weigh Down Workshop, a Christian-based diet program, and founded the Remnant Fellowship Church. She was a charismatic figure with a carefully curated image who has been accused of emotional, psychological and physical abuse and exploitation for alleged church worship practices. Shamblin, who had an over-the-top public figure with dramatically teased and imposing hair, died in May 2021, when the plane her husband Joe was flying in crashed shortly after takeoff, killing Gwen, Joe, their son-in-law , and four other Church leaders.”
I don’t know much about this story, but I’m intrigued. I look forward to both projects, as I’m sure each will bring a different perspective to the story. Grey’s Gwen Shamblin: Starving for Salvation launches on Lifetime on Saturday, February 4, 2023.
