As reported by the Japanese portal FNN, the creator of Sonic, Yuji Naka, was arrested on Friday November 18 in Japan for inside trading. The developer of the well-known SEGA character is involved in a scandal related to the ‘Dragon Quest’ series. Everything revolves around a studio called Aiming, which announced in 2020 that it would develop “Tact”, a new game in that series.

Apparently, Taisuke Sazaki, who also worked in the development of games like “Final Fantasy” or “Kingdom Hearts”, previously learned that Aiming would make this development, then bought a large number of shares before the official announcement to later sell them when they rose in price. Naka did the same as his friend’s, taking advantage of this confidential information to buy more 10,000 shares of the company.
The 57-year-old creator was arrested by the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor’s Office, which continues to investigate the incident.. The shares were allegedly purchased for about 2.8 million yen, which is worth about $20,000. From him, Sazaki acquired $188,000 worth of shares. Police authorities continue to investigate to determine whether any of the three men arrested so far owned these shares or sold them for profit prior to the deal.
The new Sonic series on Netflix
A few months ago, along with the announcement of a third film following the success of ‘Sonic: The Movie’ in 2020 and ‘Sonic 2: The Movie’ this year, we echoed the development of a spin-off series in 3D animation that will be released on December 15th: ‘Sonic Prime’. The title will have a total of 24 chapters in which our beloved blue hedgehog will have the fate of a new multiverse in his hands. Developed by Wildbrain’s Vancouver, with Maf of Action Entertainment as showrunner, the series will feature some of the franchise’s best-known characters. Dr. Eggman, Knuckles, Shadow, Tales or Amy Rose will be some of those that we will be able to enjoy in this new fiction.
