The Marvel Cinematic Universe may be gearing up for one of the most intense crossovers yet. Spider-Man: The New Day is already shaping up to be a major event for fans, and a new rumor suggests it will give fans of The Punisher exactly what they’ve been waiting for, a brutal face-off between Frank Castle and one of the deadliest villains in the Spider-Man underworld.
According to the DanielRPK scoop, Jon BernthalFrank Castle will come into “direct conflict” with crime lord Tombstone. This is an exciting development for fans who have been eager to see Bernthal’s Punisher back in the MCU.
Black Lightning alum Marvin Jones III He will reportedly take on the role of Lonnie Lincoln, better known as Tombstone. Jones had previously voiced the character Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Versebut this time it will enter the live-action version.
Given the Punisher’s violent crusade against organized crime, it’s easy to see how Tombstone would end up on his hit list.
If this report is accurate, Tombstone probably won’t serve as Spider-Man: The New Dayhe is the main villain. Instead, he is likely to act as a supporting antagonist, possibly teaming up with him Michele Mando’s Mac Gargan (Scorpion) or stirring up his troubles in New York.
Whatever his role, it looks like Castle will be hunting him down Tom HollandPeter Parker inevitably falls into chaos. Whether Punisher wants his help or not, Spider-Man isn’t the type to sit back when New York is in danger.
Tombstone’s appearance in New day marks the character’s first live-action debut, though fans may recognize an alternate version of him Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. That version was much younger, showing just how versatile this villain can be in Spider-Verse.
With regard to Jon Bernthalhe’s been playing Frank Castle for nearly a decade, starting with Reckless Season 2 before headlining The Punisher series. He recently returned to the role Daredevil: Born Again and will appear again in the show’s second season and in a Punisher TV special, both earlier New day.
But Punisher is not the only hero who will appear in this film. Marco RuffaloHulk has been confirmed, although Ruffalo himself has been coy about how much he will be involved. Florence Pugh it is said that she will return as Yelena Belova, and Charlie Cox he may once again don the red suit as Daredevil after his cameo Spider-Man: No Way Home.
In the meantime, Vincenzo D’Onofrio he reportedly won’t reprise his role as Wilson Fisk, but Kingpin’s presence will still be important. As mayor of New York, Fisk’s anti-vigilante policies are said to influence much of the film’s conflict.
It will be fascinating to see how Bernthal’s Punisher fits into the PG-13 world Spider-Man: The New Day when it hits theaters on July 31, 2026.
