Godzilla is a huge cultural icon that has been destroying cities and fighting kaiju since the first film released on November 3, 1954. Now Hot Wheels is taking on the monster in collaboration with Toho, International and Mattel.
Based on the Japanese heavy construction truck HINO, the 6-wheeled garbage dump truck was inspired by all the destruction Godzilla has caused over the years. The garbage in the back is reminiscent of its dorsal fins while the cab features a dazzling front and vicious teeth. The rear of the vehicle is a huge tow bar meant to resemble Godzilla’s tail.
The number on the side is the release date of the first Godzilla movie and the markings on the side are katakana for Godzilla. The new car will be available exclusively at Target for $ 3.99 in November. The same design will also be available as a Hot Wheels Monster truck early next year.
I think the car overall is great, but I would have liked to see a little more color. I know Godzilla isn’t exactly a rainbow of colors, but I think some kind of coloring in his mouth to represent his atomic breath would have been awesome. What do you think, do you like this new Hot Wheels car?
