“The Crown” is already shooting its sixth season and with it comes news of what we will see in Netflix’s next installment on the British monarchy. The next season is expected to recreate Diana’s death, however, Deadline has confirmed that the princess’s car crash scene will not be filmed.

For its part, Netflix also confirmed this in a statement sent to The Sun “the exact moment of the impact of the accident will not be shown”. Deadline got this first-hand information from a source who claimed the production was “up to the limit” for having to recreate the moment of Princess Diana’s death, so they decided not to include it in the series.
“We were afraid of getting to this point. The countdown is two weeks and, as we calmly advance, it is fair to acknowledge that there is some anxiety; a palpable feeling of nervousness. I mean, there’s an explosive sensitivity around this. “explained a production source about the controversial issue of the princess’s accident.
On the other hand, this same source stated that, despite not having shot the collision scene, the series will show the events that happened before and after the car accident. “It’s the advantage: the car that leaves the Ritz after midnight with the paparazzi chasing it and then the fallout with the British ambassador to France going into action with the Foreign Office, plus the constitutional fallout afterward.” the source explained to this online magazine.
Judi Dench calls “The Crown” “raw sensationalism”
Judi Dench has brought Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth to life in fiction in several films and has confessed that she does not like what is told in “The Crown” about the British monarchy. The actress sent an open letter to the British newspaper The Times in which she criticized the series for unveiling “an inaccurate and harmful account of history”, and insists on Netflix that a notice be added at the beginning of each chapter describing the series as a “fantasy drama”.
Dench admits that “The Crown” is too. “sparkling”but say it “The closer the drama gets to our present times, the more vaguely it seems willing to blur the lines between historical accuracy and raw sensationalism.” For the time being, Netflix has resisted these accountability requests from the actress and it looks like it will continue with the series as it has so far, with the fifth season premiere on November 9th.
