With the arrival of October we put on our most terrifying clothes and prepare to celebrate a whole month of “spooky season” before Halloween. Marvel Studios also joined the celebrations this year and on October 7 will launch on Disney + ‘The Curse of the Werewolf’, led by Gael García Bernal as the werewolf Jack Russell.

In a new featurette of what has been called the first “Marvel Studios Special Presentation”, because it is not a feature film but not a series (lasts 53 minutes), Kevin Feige warns that ‘The curse of man lobo’ should not be underestimated as key piece for the future of the franchise: “We introduce a world that will become very important in the future of the MCU”. Marvel Studios president says they want to explore with this special “new characters and new sides to the MCU with a funnier and scarier twist on the supernatural”.
This homage to classic Hollywood horror films will introduce us to Jack, a man whose family was cursed centuries ago. On full moon nights, he turns into a werewolfwith the physical advantages of having more strength, stamina and heightened senses, but with the disadvantage of losing a lot of self-control.
Terror comes to the UCM to stay
The character in the comics has shared cartoons with characters such as Moon Knight, Doctor Strange or Morbius, and no doubt opens new avenues for the MCU with the introduction of inspiration from classic monsters, like the future ‘Blade’ with Mahershala Ali and the inclusion of vampires. What connections will it open for the franchise? We have a few days to find out.
Marvel Studios Presents: The Curse of the Werewolf is directed by Michael Giacchino. and rounds out her cast with Laura Donnelly, Harriet Sansom Harris, Leonardo Nam and Kirk R. Thatcher, among others. We can see it on Disney + from 7 October.
