Neil Gaiman explains why Netflix has not yet renewed THE SANDMAN for a second season

Netflix has yet to renew Neil Gaiman’S The man of sand series for a second season. The first season was fantastic and I hope the story continues with the second, but we’ll just have to wait and see. Apparently, the show wasn’t a runaway success, and Netflix is still collecting data before making a decision.

Gaiman recently offered an explanation as to why The Sandman hasn’t been renewed yet, saying, “Sandman Season 1 came out on August 5th. The data collection has just finished and is complicated by the fact that many people don’t binge watch it, but spread it, letting the episodes sink in before watching the next one. Telling @netflix to hurry won’t make decisions faster.

As for me, I watched about three episodes a day before I finished watching. But I guess some people are taking a little more time, which is understandable. I guess when people aren’t watching the shows and watching them at a slower pace, creative teams are put in a position where they have to sweat and wonder if they’ll be shooting for a new season a little longer.

Here is Gaiman’s Tweet:

In the series: “There is another world that awaits us all when we close our eyes and sleep – a place called Dreaming, where The Sandman, Master of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), shapes all our deepest fears and fantasies. But when Dream is unexpectedly captured and held captive for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will forever change both the dream world and the waking world. To restore order, Dream must travel through different worlds and timelines to repair the mistakes he made during his vast existence, revisiting old friends and enemies and meeting new entities, both cosmic and human, along the way.

The cast includes Tom Sturridge as a dream, Carlo Danza (game of Thrones) as Roderick Burgess, Boyd Holbrook (Narcos) like The Corinthian, Patton Oswalt (AP Bio) as the voice of Matthew the Crow, Kirby Howell-Baptiste (The good place) like Death, Jenna Coleman (Doctor who) like Giovanna Costantino, Joely Richardson (Pinch / tuck) as Ethel Cripps, Vivienne Acheampong how Lucienne, and David Thewlis (the Harry Potter film) as John Dee.
