On that horned hand! ‘The Retaliators’ a rock star horror slasher the Church won’t like – Special (courtesy)
Mexico.- It is not an exclusive formula of any film genre, however, many times we have seen great music stars in their participation in films or series, but, when it comes to rockers, they have not appeared frequently on the scene. “The Retaliators” opens the door to a unique formula to present a slasher full of rock stars who collaborate with real actors to reveal the great film project.
“The Retaliators” looks like a promising slasher horror film with more rockersand while that draws attention beyond its storyline, the reality is that at some point it could become exclusive to genre lovers and fans of these participating bands.
He is the protagonist Lombard miles (Save me) e Marc Menchaca (Ozark), which includes a parade of rock stars in different roles during the film directed by Bridget Smith and the Better Noise Music label that was producing to organize this violent slasher in which there will be a lot of blood, fiction, and as we have seen in Netflix’s “Metal Lords”, that touch of comedy among the most powerful sounds in music.
The new horror movie will be available at Cinépolis next September 14, then prepare the tickets and the popcorn combo so that you can enjoy the participation of some of the bands and soloists who will be present during the simple storyline that is presented and of which we have all the details. These are the bands participating in ‘The Retaliators’:
- Five-fingered deadly punch
- DJ Tommy Lee
- Ice Nine kills
- dad cockroach
- Eve under fire
- From the ashes to the new
- Tuk Smith

A slasher inspired by a true story
Despite how irreverent the story of “The Retaliators” is, it is inspired by real events. The thriller tells the case of a pastor who discovers the dark and twisted underworld behind the murder of his daughter, here is the point where the Church could reject the film, even more so for having inserted one of the most stigmatized musical genres of the story for falsely relating to the devil.
The father begins the search for the killer of his daughter, a desperate man who is reacting to the tragedy and everything becomes brutal to discard the thriller to give a drastic change from the suspense, to the terror of the slasher with gory scenes of disgust, and a series of effects which actually transport us back to the 1980s with a certain involuntary humor of the film.
The pluses of the film are certainly the bands and rockers appearing in it, in the following interpretations:
- Chris Kael is Decker: Cory Marks bassist is Jimmy.
- Amanda Lyberg as Erica: singer in Eva Under Fire.
- Ivan Moody as Vic Kady: lead singer of the metal band Five Finger Death Punch.
- Tommy Lee as DJ: drummer for Mötley Crüe, the glam metal band.
- Zoltan Bathory as Fang: Cory Marks’ guitarist is Jimmy.
- Miles Franco in a brief cameo: Guitarist and bassist in Los Angeles All Good Things.
- Jacoby Shaddix as Quinn Brady: lead singer of Papa Roach, a rock and nu metal band.
- Dan Murphy employed in a gas station: he is the singer of All Good Things.
- Spencer Charnas as Max: is the current lead singer of the metalcore band Nine Kills.
- Doc Coyle as Joey: the guitarist of the metal band Bad Wolves.
- Cory Marks is Jimmy: the songwriter is also part of the slasher film.
Another advantage of “The Retaliators” is that the soundtrack that gives you that VHS atmosphere was created by the same people who made the “strange things‘, and the soundtrack will make you fall in love, because you will listen to songs like:
- Living dangerous (temptation)
- The ending (Papa Roach)
- Wolf Totem (The Hu)
- For the Flory (all good things)
- Faded (Asking Alexandria)
- Learn to walk again (bad wolves)
- Blame the double (Cory Marks)
- Invincible (Escape The Fate)
- Scars that I’m hiding (from the ashes to the new)
- Darkness settles (Five-fingered deadly fist)
- Blow (Eve Under Fire).
This film premiered at the 21st Edition of Macabre, the CDMX horror festival that included horror, apocalypse and even cyberpunk. In addition, on 27 August you can enjoy it at the Casa del Cine and from 14 September at the Cinépolis cinemas.
