Netflix crashed Joseph Gordon-Levittis the new thriller about artificial intelligence, with Rachel McAdams set to lead the project. The film comes from Ryan Johnson AND Ram BergmannThe T-Street banner, continuing the streamer’s strong relationship with the company behind it Knives out.
Gordon-Levitt directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Kieran Fitzgeraldthat he wrote Oliver Stone’S Snowden. Natasha Lyonne also shares the “story for” credit.
Both Gordon-Levitt and Fitzgerald are producing. Gordon-Levitt has been vocal about his views on artificial intelligence, and this project appears to be a direct extension of that passion.
While plot details remain under wraps, Netflix reportedly became the creative house after Gordon-Levitt and T-Street “swept away senior creative executives, who were fully on board with the Inception star-turned-director’s vision.”
McAdams, whose career highlights range from Bad girls AND The notebook TO Game night AND Are you there, God? It’s me, Margaretwill appear later in Sam Raimithe next genre film Send help at 20th Century Studios.
This new project also reconnects Gordon-Levitt with longtime collaborators. He starred in Johnson’s 2005 debut Brick and the cult science fiction film Loopers. Bergman previously produced Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut in 2013 Don Jonwith Johnson providing feedback on the script and reviewing several cuts of the film.
Netflix’s ongoing collaboration with T-Street includes not only the Knives out sequel but also the acquisition of erotic noir fair play out of Sundance 2023.
With Gordon-Levitt at the helm and McAdams leading the way, the streamer appears poised to add another interesting original film to its slate.
