Bette Midler provides long-awaited update on HOCUS POCUS 3 sequel

Bette Midler he has delivered Oscar-nominated performances in films such as The Rose AND Beachesand other memorable favorites like The First Wives Club AND Drown Monabut the role in which she is probably best known to fans of all age groups is that of Winifred (Winnie) Sanderson in Hocus Pocus movie.

The first film was released in 1993 and has remained a cult classic. Fans were surprised and delighted when the Sanderson witches reunited for the sequel Hocus Pocus 2 in 2022.

The film performed very well with fans and deepened the lore of the franchise, leading Disney to quickly greenlight a third film. But we haven’t heard much about the sequel since news broke that it was in the works.

Now, Midler has given us our first update in a while and it looks promising. In a recent appearance on See what happens live with Andy CohenMidler was asked about the film and she said:

“They sent in a script and a lot of it was brilliant. So I got really excited and now we’re trying to figure out what it’s about, how it’s going to go, where it’s going to be and how much it’s going to cost.”

So it doesn’t sound like they’ve finalized the script yet, but it sounds like they have some good ideas, and this is a step in the right direction.

Midler joins the returning cast Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah Sanderson and Kathy Najimy as Mary Sanderson.

Anne Fletcher AND Jen D’Angelothat he worked on previously Hocus Pocus 2they are busy directing and writing the third film. While no cast members have been confirmed yet, it’s likely that along with the Sanderson sisters, Salem’s new coven consists of Becca (Whitney Peak), Izzy (Belissa Escobedo) and Cassie (Lilia Buckingham) will also return.
