DC Studios Co-Cece James Gunn He is opening up on the long -term vision for the DCU and how the plan has evolved since he took the reins for the first time.
Speaking on the 2 bears, 1 podcast of caves, Gunn revealed that while the overall roadmap has moved, the main story remains the same and will take place for about a decade.
“When we took over for the first time, I had written what the first shows had to be, but where in the end the story went.”
It is noticing that Warner Bros. Discovery Boss David ZaslavWarner Bros. Pictures Coarships Mike De Luca AND Pam AbdY and HBO boss Casey Bloys They were all informed of this original plan.
“We had a basic plan, but then I took on a group of writers that I really respected, which have entered and have developed the whole story. Now, some things have changed since then, for various reasons. But the basic thrust of the great history is the same.
“This is what has started in Superman, continues in Peacemaker, goes to Superman’s next film, and then he will continue from the film, and then later.
“So there is the biggest plan we invented … it’s like a decade, perhaps a little less. It is also very loose. You have to be careful, because there were some projects that were part of that plan – because the other rule is that I have not chatted anything without having a script that I love.
“And there were still other things that have not worked. You must be able to have the general picture in mind, but then also to be arranged and be able to change every time it is necessary. So the points are the same, but some of the details have changed.”
When Gunn and Peter Safran revealed DCU for the first time Chapter one: gods and monstersThey estimated that the full plan would take about 8-10 years.
With Gunn who now clarifies that it could be necessary “as a decade” to tell the general history, it is clear that the team attacks itself at that original period. However, as Gunn pointed out, flexibility is integrated into the process, which explains why the confirmed list seems a little different from what has been announced for the first time.
What has not changed is Gunn’s commitment to tell a great story connected between films and shows, and everything started with Superman. From there, the DCU will grow slowly piece by piece, intertwining that huge 10 -year narrative mapping and its team have carefully mapped.
