A24 released the first teaser trailer for the director Ari AsterThe next film entitled Eddingtonwhich is set during the Covid pandemic. The teaser introduces the characters as they are discussing Covids conspiracy theories on social media.
The film is described as a modern western and the short logline reads: “A stall between a sheriff from a small town (Joaquin Phoenix) and mayor (Pedro Pascal) Spintillas a barrel powder while the neighbor is opposed against Eddington’s neighbor in New Mexico. “
Join Phoenix and Pascal in the cast are Austin Butler, Emma Stone, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, Amélie Hoeferle, Clifton Collins Jr. AND William Belleau.
The film seems to be taking a page from the Twilight area. This is the fourth ASTER film, which follows Hereditary, Midsomar AND FearThe last of which Phoenix also recited. When he talked about working with Phoenix, Aster said:
“Having now worked with him, I understand why he is so reluctant to jump on anything – because he really takes everything in everything he is doing. The way he challenges the material, not freely or in a way that is a pain in the ass.
“The question usually is equivalent to” Is there anything we haven’t considered here? “I realized that it is something I really wanted from an actor, and now I can’t imagine making a movie without him.”
Eddington will open in Cannes. It will be released in the United States on July 18th.
