Derrickson is destined to direct, both with him and with Cargill who write and produce under their crooked motorway banner.
This marks the first project to emerge from the first Crooked Highway agreement with the Geme/Sony screen, preparing the stage for what could be another exciting horror experience from the cinema duo.
The story is a supernatural thriller set in Siberia along the Kolyma motorway, “a real highway built in the Soviet Stalinist Union using the work of the prisoners from the Gulag of the Region.
“Tradition tells that hundreds of thousands of prisoners died during the construction of the 2000 km road and, due to the permafrost, was judged easier to build on top of the bodies.
The book is described as “a mix of popular horror and survival. It tells of an American documentary maker who, intrigued by the history of the road, ends up fighting for his life in one of the coldest and most remote places on the earth”.
Golden is an author winner of the Bram Stoker prize known for Ararat AND Cut! Horror writers on the horror movieand will produce the executive products together Wins Cheng AND Pete Donaldson. Golden also has a long history in the world of comics, co-bucking Baltimora and other stories in External together with Hellboy Creator Mike Mignola.
Derrickson and Cargill are coming out of the success of ThroatTheir Apple TV+ action-horror movie starring Miles Teller AND Anya Taylor-Juywhich has become the biggest Apple film to date. Others for them is The black phone 2intended to terrorize the public on October 17th.
