Lucasfilm is said to be developing a new one Star Wars series set in the iconic Knights of the Ancient Republic era.
For years, fans have wanted to see a related project produced Kotorthe fantastic 2003 LucasArts game that dives deep into the Star Wars the ancient past of the universe.
Hints of an adaptation have been circulating for some time The Force awakensand in 2019, president of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy teased fans that they had “something to watch” regarding KOTOR.
Now, insider Daniel Richtman reports, “Lucasfilm is developing a show set during the era of the Knights of the Old Republic.”
While it’s unclear whether this series will directly adapt the game’s narrative, there is optimism that some fan-favorite characters could appear. Despite Kotor and the Expanded Universe are not officially part of the current canon, Lucasfilm has previously reintroduced popular elements from the Legends continuity.
It was previously said that the project would tell other stories outside of the game’s narrative, before the Rule of Two and at a time when Revan and Malek were in their prime.
Set nearly 4,000 years before the birth of the Galactic Empire, Kotor explores a time when Jedi and Sith forces clashed in epic battles across the galaxy. The game’s captivating synopsis sets the stage:
“Four thousand years have passed before the Galactic Empire and hundreds of Jedi Knights fall in battle against the ruthless Sith. You are the last hope of the Jedi Order.
“Can you master the extraordinary power of the Force in your quest to save the Republic? Or will you fall into the lure of the dark side? Hero or villain, savior or conqueror… you alone will determine the fate of the entire galaxy!”
It would be really cool and interesting to see this era Star Wars explored, and if it’s something Lucasfilm is actually doing, I hope they use the right creativity to develop it.
