A poster for XYZ Films’ upcoming exorcism horror film has been revealed The ritualwhat stars Al Pacino (The devil’s advocate) AND Dan Stevens (Cuckoo, Abigail).
The film is marketed as “based on a true story.” The story “follows two priests – one questioning his faith (Stevens) and the other dealing with a troubled past (Pacino) – who must put aside their differences to save a possessed young woman through a difficult and dangerous series of exorcisms”.
The Ritual is described as “an authentic portrait of Emma Schmidt, an American woman whose demonic possession culminated in harrowing exorcisms. His case remains the most thoroughly documented exorcism in American history.”
The XYZ partners said: “David Midell’s matter-of-fact aesthetic is terrifying, authentic and leaves you incredibly uncomfortable that these events actually happened.”
David Midell directs the film from a screenplay written by Enrico Nataleand he is also the protagonist Ashley Greene (THE Dusk franchising).
The ritual will be released in theaters on April 18, 2025.
