Not long after this was reported Chris Evans will return to the role of Steve Rogers in Avengers: Judgment Daywas announced Hayley Atwell has joined the project and will reprise her role as Peggy Carter.
The news comes from Deadline and there are no other details to share about how the character will enter the story, but it’s safe to say we’ll see her and Rogers spend some time together.
The last time we saw Atwell in the MCU, she was playing Captain Carter Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and was brutally murdered.
It was recently reported that the version of Steve Rogers that will be in the film is Nomad, which is the alternate identity that Steve Rogers takes on in 1974’s Captain America #180 comic. In this storyline, he drops the Captain America moniker after losing his trust in the United States government and become a man who serves no country.
As a fan of Peggy Carter, it will be great to see her return to the MCU. I’m thrilled with this news!
Evans and Atwell were set to reunite for a standalone film being developed in 2021, but they couldn’t resolve the story. Regardless, Marvel and Evans have seen the new Avengers film as the perfect opportunity to bring both characters back to life.
What do you think of Hayley Atwell returning to the role of Peggy in the MCU? How do you think it will be incorporated into the story?
Avengers: Judgment Day is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and will be released on May 1, 2026.
