A new trailer has been released for the Doctor who Christmas Special, “Joy to the World”. Special content from Disney and the BBC Ncuti Gatwa AND Bridgerton star Nicholas Coughlanand follows the title character Joy as she checks into a London hotel in 2024.
He opens a secret door to the Time Hotel, discovering danger, dinosaurs and the Doctor. But a deadly plan is unfolding across the Earth, just in time for Christmas.
Gatwa obviously returns as the Doctor. They join the couple Steph de Whalley like Anita, Jonathan Aris in the role of Melnak, Joel Fried as Trev, Peter Benedict like Basil, Giulia Watson like Hilda and Niamh Marie Smith like Silvia.
The Christmas special will precede the second season of episodes of Doctor who as part of its renewed Disney-BBC deal Russell T. Davies back at the helm. The deal has yet to be renewed beyond the second season, but a renewal announcement is expected.
Joy to the world is executive produced and written by Steven Moffat and directed by Alex Sanjiv Pillai (Bridgerton).
Davies serves as showrunner and executive producer. Other executive producers are Joel Collins, Phil Collinson, Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter.
