Travel back to 1999 in a fun, nostalgic featurette for the teen disaster comedy Y2K

A24 has released a fun featurette for the upcoming teen disaster comedy Year 2000set on New Year’s Eve 1999, and Y2K causes technology to go berserk and start killing people.

This promotional video introduces the director Kyle Mooney taking us back to the year 1999, showing us what it was like back then. He shot in old school video quality with a fish eye lens.

If you grew up in the ’90s, this video will give you a fun, hard nostalgia boost.

The brief plot summary reads: “On the last night of 1999, two high school students crash a New Year’s Eve party, only to find themselves fighting for their lives in this dial-up disaster comedy.”

Year 2000 comes from actor/comedian/writer and ex Saturday night live cast member Kyle Mooneywho makes his directorial debut with the film from a script co-written with the producer Eva Winter.

Movie stars Jaeden Martell (It, Mr. Harrigan’s phone) AND Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2) play the main characters.

They are united by Rachel Zegler (History of the West Side), Lachlan Watson (Chucky, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Freemason Gooding (Cry 2022, Scream VI), The Laroi child, Tim Heidecker (Us), Eduardo Franco (Stranger things), Miles Robbins (Daniel isn’t real, Halloween 2018), Alicia Silverstone (The killing of a sacred deer, The Lodge), Fred Hechinger (Street of fear), Daniele Zolghadri (Fun pages) AND Fred Durst

The film was produced by Jonah Hill, Eva Winter, Matt Dines, Alison Goodwin, Chris StorerAND Cooper Wehde.

Year 2000 will be released in theaters on December 6, 2024.
