Marvel Studios has released a new photo for its upcoming animated series Marvel Zombieswhich will premiere on Disney+ on October 3, 2025.
There’s also a fun new synopsis that’s been shared, which Marvel obviously isn’t taking too seriously. The description reads: “It’s ‘Marvel Zombies’!” And that’s it! This is the synopsis.
Marvel Animation Bryan Andrews previously confirmed Marvel Zombies will be rated with a “hardcore” TV-MA rating, and said it will also be a four-episode “event series.”
I saw some footage of the series at D23 earlier this year and it looks like this show is going to be great!
The film shown proves it Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi e AwkwafinaKaty are the main characters of one of the stories in the series.
The first clip we watched features a city overrun by zombies and Shang Chi and Katy are in the middle of battling them and there’s a team of helicopters flying through the sky wiping out the zombies.
Shang-Chi’s father is on one of the helicopters and jumps out to help fight the zombies using the power of the Ten Rings. In the midst of the battle Chang-Chi is bitten on the arm by a zombie.
As he begins to turn into a zombie and the rot moves up his arm, his father saves him by transferring the Ten Rings to him. The rings travel up Shang-Chi’s arm and prevent the infection from spreading further, but his arm remains decayed.
With his father left unprotected by the Ten Rings, he is killed and Shang-Chi and Katy escape in one of the helicopters.
The second clip is set five years after that event and the world is now a Mad Max-style wasteland! There’s a bunch of people driving around in these Mad-Max style vehicles and Shang-Chi, with his right-hand man, and Katy are in one of them.
As they race through the desert, the Krees biker gang comes for them, and that’s the start of a fantastic road rage battle.
I enjoyed the footage that was shown and it looks like the series could be great to watch! We’re actually going to be bringing to life a real Marvel Zombies story and that’s going to be really exciting!
The series is set in an alternate reality and reimagines the Marvel Universe as a new generation of heroes battling an ever-spreading zombie plague.
The Wonders star Iman Vellani confirmed that she will reprise her role as Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, in the series, and her character will be the focus of the show.
Vellani said: “We have done everything. It was fantastic. It was so much fun. And I love: There are a lot of interesting characters in the Marvel Zombies show. And Kamala is kind of the center of the show.
Vellani also referenced The Lord of the Rings while talking about the series to explain Kamala’s role, saying, “They described her to me, it’s like, ‘She’s basically the Frodo of the story.’ And I thought, ‘This is fantastic.'”
