Emmy winner Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Emmy winner Guy Pearce (The brutalist), AND The Lords star Daniele Eng were chosen to direct the crime thriller Mr. Sunny Skythat Bankside launches ahead of the American Film Market.
“The film will follow Leonard Moore, a once chart-topping pop star and now lounge singer in a mid-budget hotel in the Canary Islands. One night he meets Shirley, another lost soul with whom he shares an immediate bond.
“But Shirley’s husband is a dangerous man, and soon the new couple’s budding romance is thrown into a spiral of paranoia, suspense and violence.”
Matt Chambers he directs the film based on his own screenplay and filming will begin next year in Gran Canaria. This will be Chambers’ second feature film following his well-received one The bicycle thief which was nominated for a British Independent Film Award.
Chambers said of the project: “I couldn’t feel luckier to be making this film on such a beautiful island, side by side with the most talented people I know, friends old and new, legends established and in the making. By bringing together the amazing Guy and Hannah, it’s obvious we’re onto something electrifying.”
