Paul rehearsed the horse show for four months, but at the last minute Ridley Scott decided to cut the scene from the film. After a rowdy showdown, the director still allowed the scene to be shot but warned Paul Mescal that he would only do two takes.
It was finally possible to shoot the scene, and Ridley Scott and Paul Mescal regained good relations with each other. 20 years ago, there were some conflicts on the set of the first episode of Gladiator.
