Astronomers have found a unique star in our galaxy! According to arXiv, the SDSS J0715−7334 celestial object may be the “cleanest” star known to science, according to scientists.

The researchers suggest that J0715−7334 consists of gas enriched in material from a first-generation star. These stars are known to consist only of primitive hydrogen and helium, and are also supermassive, hot and short-lived.
“J0715−7334 is the ‘cleanest’ of all known stars. It contains almost no heavy elements. It most likely consists only of matter-enriched gas from a first-generation star (a massive supernova of 30 solar masses),” the researchers wrote.
Additionally, scientists explain that the star’s location in the Galaxy’s distant halo protects it from “contamination” of heavy elements. Therefore, the composition of this star is almost identical in composition to the first generation stars.
