Like the HBO Max series The Penguin comes to an end this week, fans are wondering when we can expect another great show set in this world Matt Reeves created in the 2022 film The Batman.
Rumors have been circulating the internet ever since Reeves hinted that another series could happen, and there are so many great villains to choose from to make it happen.
Many say that it is a fragment of a scene that we saw Barry KeoghanThe Joker in the first film points to a series origin, but as of now, if there have been any talks, they haven’t happened regarding this character.
Chief DC James Gunn confirmed this in a recent post on Threads by linking it to the original rumor, saying, “There is no truth to this, sorry.”
Then, in a separate post, he said: “Everyone asks me this. No, there is absolutely no truth to this. A Joker series is not on the table, nor has it even been proposed at this time. Excuse me.”
Since taking over DC Studios, Gunn has used social media to debunk rumors about potential projects, such as a video game set in Batman’s universe.
He’s always been upfront with fans asking him about his movies in the past, and now he has a lot more knowledge about the entire DC Cinematic Universe. If there’s something he can’t answer, he won’t, but he’s not one for misdirection.
For now, we can look forward to the end The Penguin leading in Batman: Part IIexpected in theaters on October 2, 2026.
