Alicia Silverstone will be the protagonist of the next drama series Irish bloodwhich is installed on Acorn TV. Silverstone plays Fiona Sharpe, a “charming Los Angeles divorce lawyer who receives a letter from her estranged father and sets out to uncover the mystery of his disappearance.”
Silverstone spoke about the series, saying, “’Irish Blood’ is the story of a woman discovering herself and confronting her past after traveling abroad unexpectedly. I love how unpredictable the storytelling is and the combination of drama, humor and suspense that my character experiences.”
The official series description states that Fiona’s “path in life is marked by her father, Declan, who apparently abandoned her and her mother on her tenth birthday.
“After years of channeling her anger towards him for the benefit of his contentious clients, a message from her father sends her to Ireland. There he learns fundamental truths about his father and a family that doesn’t know he exists and, furthermore, that the story of abandonment that shaped his entire life was a lie.
“A lie intended to protect her and her mother from her father’s shady dealings. Fiona decides to find out the whole truth about her father and reconnect with the parent she only thought she knew.
The series comes from writers Aaron Martin, Christina Ray, Mike O’LearyAND Giovanni Krizanc. The series is directed by Molly McGlynn.
Rob Fox, executive vice president of production at AMC Networks, which oversees Acorn TV’s original programming, said in the statement: “Acorn TV is known for its wide range of compelling mysteries, and audiences won’t be disappointed with this modern, witty drama and intelligent.” this will keep them perplexed until the last minute.
“We are thrilled to have Alicia on board, her depth and charm add a new layer to ‘Fiona’ in this extraordinary journey of Aaron, Christina, Mike and John.”
Producer Paul Donovan added: “Christina Ray and Aaron Martin have created a compelling world full of mystery and confusing family dynamics, set in Ireland. We are delighted to once again partner with the talented team at Shaftesbury to bring this series to Acorn/AMC audiences.”

Production on the series is now underway in and around Dublin. It will consist of six episodes of one hour each. The cast includes Wendy Crewson, Jason O’Mara, Dearbhla Molloy, Simone Kirby, Ruth CoddAND Leonardo Taiwo.
