Joel Kinnaman he was one of the few actors to make the leap from David Ayer’s 2016 film Suicide squad to return for the revamped James Gunn The suicide squadbut his character, Rick Flag, was unfortunately not in the minority of antiheroes who survived the film. Flag was killed by Peacemaker (Giovanni Cena) after threatening to leak the Starro files, and everyone thought that would be the last time we would see the military man.
Then, earlier this year, Peacemaker Director of the second season Pietro Sollett tagged Joel Kinnaman in his social media post announcing that he had completed filming his episodes, seemingly confirming that the actor was set to reprise his role for the Max spin-off series.
So it was natural Screen triggering ask Kinnaman this during an interview with the actor about his new film, The silent hourto which the actor gave a surprisingly candid response.
“I don’t know what to say. It’s ridiculous. I would never do that. I would never be on a show like that. That’s not what I do. That’s not what I do.”
This means one of two things: Kinnaman was trying to confuse fans into thinking he wasn’t returning to the role, even though he is. Or he really believes he’s above the series and wouldn’t think of making an appearance.
But this seems so absurd, because as it is Peacemaker the one different from The suicide squad? It really isn’t, so I hope it’s just the first option. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see when Peacemaker season 2 returns to MAX in 2025.
