Paramount+ and Showtime Yellowjecket has added Hilary Swank to the cast of the upcoming season 3. She will be a recurring guest star on the series, which is currently filming in Vancouver.
Details regarding Swank’s character have not been revealed, but there is an option for her to become a series regular should the series have a fourth season.
Yellow jackets is the saga of “a team of highly talented high school soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash in the remote northern wilderness.
“The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to a wild clan, while also charting the lives they’ve attempted to put back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really the past and what began in the wilderness is far from over.
Yellow jackets director and producer Karyn Kusama he previously teased what was to come, saying, “I was so excited by this. The concept of that immediate consequence of re-entering the world, for me, has an entire season’s worth of material.
“And the fact that this is such a long game that each of these characters are faced with, in terms of reorienting themselves to whatever normality is supposed to be. I’m sure we’ll learn that their normality is very different from ours… There’s a lot to understand between seasons two and three.”
Lyle previously revealed that they had a five-season plan and were on track to realize the entire story they wanted to tell. When they talked about the comprehensive plan they initially pitched, they explained why they believe five seasons is the right stopping point.
Lyle said, “The original plan was about five seasons, and we feel like we’re still on track to get that done. There’s always room for things. We don’t really consider it more than a five-season show.
“I think there are series that can last forever, but I think when you’re telling a story that’s so deeply serialized and it’s about the lives of these characters, you want to reach a satisfying conclusion and not just drag things out forever.
“This isn’t really one of those setups that shows where it can go anywhere. So far we have been really on the right track. Season two is largely what we always planned, but you make a lot of discoveries along the way so it’s always a little surprising.”
Swank joins Melanie Lynkey, Sophie Nelisse, Juliet Lewis, Cristina Ricci, Samantha Hanratty, Fawn cypress, Brown Savoy Jasmine, Sophie Thatcher, Courtney Eaton, Lauren Ambrose, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren KoleAND Kevin Alves. Joel McHale he also recently joined the cast.
The third season was delayed due to the strikes, but will premiere on Showtime next year.
