Thanks to WandaVision spin-off series Agata alwaysMephisto fan speculation is back! I’m sure you all remember how a lot of fans thought Mephisto was going to be the big bad behind the scenes of WandaVision, and then nothing ever came of it.
Now fans have once again spotted clues to Mephisto’s introduction Agata always. Showrunner of the series Jac Schaeffer RHe recently did an interview with Entertainment Weekly to address this speculation and how he knew he was throwing out a huge bait to encourage fans to keep watching.
Schaeffer said, “With these shows, so often there’s something that’s both a joke and a wink and a nod, and actually has something legitimate underneath it.
“As we all know, Mephisto is a very involved character in Agatha’s plot. I mean, people have to watch, but we always play with the audience that way.”
Now, just because they’re playing with the audience like that doesn’t mean Mephisto will show up because they did the same damn thing with WandaVision.
There are some things fans have been wondering about the show that they will eventually get answers to. Scarlet Witch will appear sooner or later? Is “Teen” really Billy Kaplan, aka Wiccan? Who is Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal? Why does Agatha Harkness want the prize at the end of The Witches’ Road? And of course, will Mephisto finally make his MCU debut?
Schaeffer also talked about the possible return of Elizabeth Olsen, but says that for now the focus is all on Agatha Harkness.
She said: “There was a lot of consideration. That’s a great way of articulating it: her shadow. Agatha is not a character who’s going to stand in anyone’s shadow. So this is definitely Agatha Harkness’ show.
“However, we are in the WandaVision corner of the universe, so Wanda’s legacy has threads in this narrative. But yes, it’s about Agatha. It’s about his journey, it’s about his truth, and that’s our main focus on the show.”
