David Harbour teases why the asterisk was added to THUNDERBOLTS*

During a recent interview with Comic Book, the actor David Port addressed why an asterisk was added to the title of the next Marvel film Lightning* movie.

Since it was added, the only thing anyone has said about it is that “we’ll just have to wait and see.” Well, Harbour goes into it a bit more, but avoids spoiling anything.

Harbour teased: “I mean, they retroactively put the asterisk [in]. The asterisk is an idea someone had… What can I say that won’t get me in trouble? …

“The asterisk is really cool. I understand why people might put an asterisk there. I’m excited for viewers to see it, too. But again, that’s all I can say.”

He continued that the film is doing well at domestic screenings: “I’m very proud of this film, of what we’ve shot. I’ve heard it’s doing well domestically and I can’t wait for people to see it.

“I think it’s really going to surprise people. I think people have seen from the trailer, from the footage. I think it’s a pretty interesting direction that the MCU is going right now. And I’m excited to be a part of it.”

The rumor is that the plan is for this team to be revealed as the Dark Avengers, which would be an interesting twist. But until the film is released, we won’t know for sure what Marvel is trying to do with its characters.

The cast of Lightning* also includes Florence Pugh like Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan like Bucky Barnes, Wyatt Russell as a United States agent, by Hannah John Kamen like Ghost, Lewis Pullman like The Sentinel, Julia Louis Dreyfus like Countess Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and Olga Kurylenko as Overseer.

The film is directed by Jake Schreier (Paper Towns, just kidding) and it was written by Eric Pearson (Thor: Ragnarok, Black Widow) AND Dr. Kurt Busiek.

Lightning* It is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on July 25, 2025.
