One of my most anticipated upcoming film projects is the director by Mike Flanagan adaptation of by Stephen King Chuck’s LifeEverything I’ve heard about this movie is exciting and it could very well end up being one of the best movies of the year.
The excitement for the film continues to grow with one of its stars, David Dastmalchianwho recently shared more of his thoughts on the film.
Chuck’s Life are “three separate stories connected to tell the biography of Charles Krantz in reverse, beginning with his death from brain cancer at age 39 and ending with his childhood in a supposedly haunted house.”
Speaking to GamesRadar+, Dastmalchian says the film is “creepy and scary” and explains that he’s never experienced anything like it before in his career.
The actor said Flanagan made a huge impression despite Dastmalchian only being on set for a day or two: “I’d always heard about the worlds that Mike was able to masterfully create on his sets because it’s such a family unit.
“These are people who have worked together for many years and have really strong forms of trust and communication. So when I showed up for my day of working on the film, it was maybe two days, I arrived and immediately thought, ‘Oh wow, I’ve never seen something so close, so incredible before.’
“It’s like a circus: they take everything and put it in the next place. They’re all friends and they’ve been doing this together for so long.”
Regarding the film, Dastmalchian said that while it is indeed “disturbing,” it is also unexpectedly emotional.
The actor continued: “The way in which [Mike Flanagan] He works so practically and with deep love, which is really sweet considering how macabre his mind is and how dark the stories he tells can be.
“He’s just a deeply loving human being, and I think Life of Chuck really explores some disturbing and scary themes, but it’s also really emotional in a way that I didn’t expect.”
Dastmalchian previously said of the film: “It’s wonderful. You think, ‘Oh, Mike Flanagan, Stephen King, this thing is just going to be the most horrifying, terrifying thing you’ve ever seen.’ [But] it’s so beautifully rendered, heartfelt, the drama, the performances.”
She continued: “The cast is deep. [Matthew] Lillard has a moment in this film that breaks my heart. Karen Gillan, another one who I think rides that incredible skid between her small indie auteur films and then the big studio budget stuff.
“One of the best actors in Hollywood right now. Kate Siegel, I mean, there’s so much [many] great people! Ah, what a joy.”
Karen Gillan He also once shared his thoughts on the film, saying, “You know what, it didn’t feel that different to me. I was like, ‘OK, how has he changed? He’s done so many movies. [It] I felt the same thing! We were back in Alabama as if we had never left.
“If there was any difference, I guess he just felt more… I mean, he was relaxed in the first one, but maybe he wasn’t, he was just pretending to be. But no, it was just the same Mike Flanagan, and brilliant and the movie is absolutely incredible.
“I saw an unfinished version of it and literally cried for days. In a good way.”
The film also stars Tom Hiddleston, Mark Hamill, Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange), AND Jacob Tremblay (Doctor Sleep), as well as My Sarah, Matthew Lillard, Bliss of the Trinity, Dr. Harvey Guillen, Rahul Kohl, David DastmalchianAND Erica Langenkamp.
